April 22th 2021 Update

SOLAS’s Standard Operational Pandemic Containment Guidelines has been amended to increase the maximum number of candidates allowed to attend a Safe Pass course from 10 to 12 people with immediate effect. We have changed our venues in Dublin & Limerick due to level 5 restristion. Our new Dublin venue is now Dublin West Education Centre, Tallaght, Dublin 24, D24 PX58 and our Limerick alternative venue is in Shannon but is not open due to restrictions and we hope to have dates in May. April 16th 2021 Update

As some of you may be aware SOLAS have resumed Safe Pass training with immediate effect. Today we have been scheduling and organising training dates and venues, we hope to have confirmation early next week. Please keep an eye on our website and this blog from Monday for updates and dates. April 12th 2021 Update

Other than the stated “Limited Provision of Safe Pass training for Essential projects” training is suspended until further instruction is received from SOLAS. On contacting SOLAS on the 06th April 2021 the response received was “SOLAS have asked the department about reopening the course delivery, but they haven’t given us an answer yet. March 15th 2021 Update

As you are aware SOLAS Safe Pass Training has been suspended from the 08th January 2021 to be reviewed after the 05th February 2021. On the 27th January 2021 SOLAS issued further instruction that training is suspended until after Friday 05th March 2021.

On the 23rd February SOLAS introduced the “Limited Provision of Safe Pass training for Essential Projects” for new workers engaged on construction projects deemed essential to the economic viability of the state. Other than the stated “Limited Provision of Safe Pass training for Essential projects” training is suspended until after Monday 5th April 2021.

Limited Provision of Safe Pass Training for Essential Projects

SOLAS have advised that limited resumption of Safe Pass training may take place with immediate effect to meet the needs of new workers accessing critical projects which are deemed necessary for the economic viability of the state. Training activity must be in accordance with the SOLAS Standard Operational Pandemic Containment Guidelines and SOLAS Safe Pass Code of Conducts.

The following requirements must be met:

  • Ensure requests for Safe Pass training come from employers who can provide evidence that workers requiring training are engaged on construction projects deemed essential to the economic viability of the state.
  • Ensure training is limited to those not currently holding a valid Safe Pass card and provide evidence that they are engaged on construction projects deemed essential to the economic viability of the state.
  • Project and employer validation will be validated by the Construction Industry Federation. The delivery of Safe Pass courses will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • Safe Pass training will be delivered at designated locations.
  • Approved Training Organisations and Safe Pass Tutors must inform SOLAS in advance of their plans to run a course and demonstrate the immediate requirement for Safe Pass training.
