Lantra Ride On Roller (Face to Face)

Course Description


Becoming proficient in operating this machinery is an essential and valued operator’s skill for any contract, large or small. This Lantra course will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to operate the machine safely, protecting both you and those around you.

Course Delivery Method: Face to Face.

Classroom, practical demonstration and assessment. For essential services, or where authorised, On Site training can be conducted depending on which current level of the National Framework for Living with Covid-19 is in place and once the minimum infection controls below can be observed:

  • A minimum of 2 metres between each trainee.
  • A well aired room with windows that can be open.
  • Hand sanitiser or/and gloves made available to all trainees.
  • All hard surfaces cleaned before and after the training course.
  • No other personnel allowed in the room until the course has finished.
  • No entry of personnel showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Pre-screening Covid-19 questionnaire completed and approved before course commencement.
  • All Government, HSE, WHO & CIF guidelines can be adhered to.

This training course has been developed to help you understand how to operate a ride on roller safely. The amount of instruction you will require will depend largely upon your previous experience and sessions will be adapted to meet your needs. Course duration will depend on experience and will be from one to four days.

The training course will consist of theory and practical sessions, followed by assessment. Course sessions include:

  • Introduction & Welcome.
  • Module 1 – Plant Safety and the Law.
  • Module 2 – Principles of Soil Compaction.
  • Module 3 – Machine Knowledge and Preparation for Work.
  • Module 4 – Travelling and Manoeuvring the Machine.
  • Module 5 – Machine Operation.
  • Module 6 – Theory Assessment.
  • Module 7 – Practical Assessment.

If successful in meeting the required standards assessed, you will be awarded a certificate of competence and a Lantra skills ID card for your chosen certificate option.

This course is for you if you need to become proficient in safely operating a ride on roller.

Prior knowledge

Previous experience working with rollers is desirable.

Pre-course preparation

Learners are required to:

  • Participants should provide certified and tested machinery and equipment.
  • All operators must have the correct Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Complete our Pre-Course Questionnaire 3 days prior to course.
  • Complete our COVID-19 Training Commencement form 3 days prior to course.
