Ride On Roller (Face to Face)
Course Description
Ride on Rollers are heavy duty pieces of machinery that are extensively used within the construction and grounds care industry, and they must be operated by people that have attended and passed an appropriate accredited roller training course.
Course Delivery Method: Face to Face
For essential services, or where authorised, On Site training can be conducted depending on which current level of the National Framework for Living with Covid-19 is in place and once the minimum infection controls below can be observed:
- A minimum of 2 metres between each trainee
- A well aired room with windows that can be open
- Hand sanitiser or/and gloves made available to all trainees
- All hard surfaces cleaned before and after the training course
- No other personnel allowed in the room until the course has finished
- No entry of personnel showing any symptoms of COVID-19
- Pre-screening Covid-19 questionnaire completed and approved before course commencement
- All Government, HSE, WHO & CIF guidelines can be adhered to
The overall aim and objective for this course is to ensure that operators of ride on rollers are in a position to safely operate the machines in accordance with the Manufacturers’ Instructions.
The course is delivered in a classroom environment using PowerPoint presentation, course handouts, exercises and multimedia. The course is highly practical and involves group discussions and cover the following:
- Introduction & Welcome
- Module 1 – Legislation
- Module 2 – General Safety Rules & Precautions
- Module 3 – HSA
- Module 4 – Types of Rollers
- Module 5 – Work Area
- Module 6 – Road Roller Operations
- Module 7 – Asphalt Compaction Tips
Additional modules & information can be included on request. On successful completion of the programme the attendants will be issued with a SMT certificate.
Who should attend?
All operators of ride on rollers.
Prior knowledge
A minimum of 6 months operating experience.
Pre-course preparation
Learners are required to:
- Participants should provide certified and tested machinery and equipment.
- All operators must have the correct Personal Protective Equipment.
- Complete our Pre-Course Questionnaire 3 days prior to course.
- Complete our COVID-19 Training Commencement form 3 days prior to course (On Site courses only).
