First Aid at Work + F (Face to Face)

Course Description


This is a three day training and assessment course. You’ll practise and learn the skills you need to be able to give first aid before the professionals take over. This course will build on your knowledge and understanding from the Emergency First Aid at Work and/or First Aid at Work courses and concentrate on the skills you need in the Forestry industry.

Course Delivery Method: Face to Face.

Classroom, practical demonstration and assessment. For essential services, or where authorised, On Site training can be conducted depending on which current level of the National Framework for Living with Covid-19 is in place and once the minimum infection controls below can be observed:

  • A minimum of 2 metres between each trainee.
  • A well aired room with windows that can be open.
  • Hand sanitiser or/and gloves made available to all trainees.
  • All hard surfaces cleaned before and after the training course.
  • No other personnel allowed in the room until the course has finished.
  • No entry of personnel showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Pre-screening Covid-19 questionnaire completed and approved before course commencement.
  • All Government, HSE, WHO & CIF guidelines can be adhered to.

This training course has been developed to help you understand how to operate a ride on roller safely. The amount of instruction you will require will depend largely upon your previous experience and sessions will be adapted to meet your needs. Course duration will depend on experience and will be from one to four days.

The training course will consist of theory and practical sessions, followed by assessment. Course sessions include:

  • Introduction & Welcome.
  • Module 1 – Patient Assessment.
  • Module 2 – Incident Procedures.
  • Module 3 – Injury Management and Shock.
  • Module 4 – Care of the unconscious patient
  • Module 5 – Burns and electrical injury care.
  • Module 6 – Hypothermia and hyperthermia.
  • Module 7 – Theory Assessment.
  • Module 8 – Practical Assessment.

There will be assessment and a certificate of training, plus you will be given a workbook to keep handy as a useful reference guide.

This course is for you if you work in the forestry industry and need to ensure that you have the relevant training to carry out first aid.

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge requirement.

Pre-course preparation

Learners are required to:

  • Loose comfortable clothing for practical exercises.
  • Complete our Pre-Course Questionnaire 3 days prior to course.
  • Complete our COVID-19 Training Commencement form 3 days prior to course.
